• Jemmy writes the ransom note for the thieves, as they instruct him about how they want to be described.

• Jemmy warns that if as much as one soldier is seen, his neck will be broken.

• Jemmy increases the reward, believing that he is worth more as a prince. As a result, he makes his ransom a wagonful of gold and jewels. The outlaws are happy.

• Prince Brat is not happy that Jemmy has declared his royal title.
