How is the responder positioned to feel about Koro being wrong about his granddaughter?

Do you mean the viewer? I think it is dramatic irony in that the audience is quite aware of Koro's ignorance from the start of the film. The audience just hopes grandfather will see beyond his narrow minded tradition.
