What was so surprising about dumbell. Why was Holmes reffering to it time and again?
The dunb-bells were surprising because there is only one dumb-bell. People who use them would have a set... not a single piece.
All my lines of thought lead me back invariably to the one basic question—why should an athletic man develop his frame upon so unnatural an instrument as a single dumb-bell?”
Holmes believes the answer to the case hinges on the missing dumb-bell.
