He thinks he is a God from the heavens. Caliban thinks Stephano can free him from Prospero.

He begs Stephano not to torment him.

Stephano arrives, singing, with a bottle in hand. Caliban again believes this man to be a spirit (like Trinculo) and tells Stephano to leave him alone. "Do not torment me:" he Caliban cries (Line 59).
