How would you explain the satire in this story?

The aunt and the children are made fun of the most by the narrator. Does the satire mostly cover adults raising children without much thought about them as human beings?

The author is satirizing the "woman who knows everything", or the Aunt and the bachelor, who presumably knows nothing about children. Irony is found in the fact that the children prefer the bachelor's story..... regardless of the fact that it doesn't end well. It's the bachelor's story that teaches the lesson.
