The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Why have Coleridge compared the Icebergs to the Emerald?

What is the logic of green in Icebergs?

Apperently this refers to an old, and out of date, notion at the time that icebergs were actually green. Coleridge had never been to the South-Pole and took this as fact . It also adds to the increasingly surreal quality of the poem.
