Why was there no mention of Jody caring for the new foal?

Jody loved the red pony so much and he took such time and care of him. Unfortunately he died, but his father rewarding him for the good care he gave the Red Pony, got him another foal. After Billy had to kill Nellie to birth the foal, this was the last we heard of him. Why was there no talk of Jody bonding with the foal or even anything about the foal.
