John and Lorraine actually tell Mr. Pignati the truth because they're beginning to feel guilty. While visiting his home, they notice that something isn't quite right.... that he seems a bit down and depressed. Mr. Pignati looks old and sick, so John and Lorraine decide it's time to be honest with Mr. Pignati, who's become a friend. Thus, they tell him that they were never working for a charity. They worry about how he will take the news.
