I don't think that would have been possible unless they'd left their home and moved onto a new location. They were surrounded by the greed and avarice of those who were jealous and wanted Kino's discovery. They were beacons for the robbers who wished to steal from them, and the pearl buyers built a wall they couldn't surmount by working together against them. So, as it went, the only thing that might have made for a happy ending would have been Coyotito's life. All the moeny in the world couldn't have made up for the loss of their son.
