in the book the pearl why does kino want to leave juana behind?

Juana and Coyotito slow Kino down. The trackers are on to them and it is much harder to hide with a woman and a baby as well as stay a step ahead. Juana however is knows that if the trackers find Kino, they would also find her, and she and Coyotito will be killed.
