George's mother and biological father divorced when he was two years old. 

George viewed his stepfather in the same way we'd view a favorite uncle. He got George where he needed to go, but as a man, he tended to keep to himself and tinker with his cars. Eventually, he left George's mother, something that seemed to make her very happy.
