why are the socs and the greasers going to fight in the vacant lot?

socs and greasers are two different groups. greasers are poorer than socs. socs always jumped on greasers.

Everything in the book has culminated to this event. The Socs want revenge for the death of Bob and the Greasers want vengeance for what happened to Johnny.
