Ponyboy is keeping the fact that he doesn't feel well from his brothers. He is also hiding the fact that he takes large doses of aspirins each night..... four is the norm.

I swallowed five aspirins, though, when Darry and Soda weren't looking. I do that all the time because I can't sleep very well at night Darry thinks I take just one, but I usually take four.
