Aunt Pullet was very possesive and cautious about the cleanliness of her house, she used to keep everything cleaned and organized in it's place. The stairs of Aunt pullet's house were so polished that if someone walked on them carelessly they'd slip and brek their limbs.even when the tullivers came to her house she did not let them step in with dirty shoes, and did'nt even let them clean it with the mat instead she told her maid to bring the old mat for wiping the dirt off their shoes, and when Aunt pullet was takingmr.s Tulliver to show her the bonnet she took the kids with her so they don't damage or dirty her furniture.

Mrs. Pullet was very weak towards the cleanliness of her house, she was a 'cleanliness freak' and perhaps that was because she was hypochondriac. Several evidences are present in Chapter 9; for example: she made Tom,Lucy and Maggie stay outside the house until they got their shoes cleaned at the doorstep, not on the map but instead she told her maid to bring the old scraper. She also used to polish the oak stairs and roll up the carpets and put them in a spare bedroom, Climbing the stairs was very dangerous as they were very slippery and shiny, and it was a mercy to reach the top of the stairs without broken limbs.

Mrs. Pullet once made Tom sit with towels wrapped around his boots because she thought that they were dirty. Another incidence was her mentioning to bring the kids, Lucy and Maggie, to the best room or they would be spoiling something. These evidences emphasize how much Mrs. Pullet was possessive and cautious and weak towards her house's cleanliness.
