What does Lindo mean when she calls Waverly, "American Made?"

Lindo replies that the Chinese will know Waverly is American before she even opens her mouth, Waverly is disappointed. Lindo reproaches herself for having tried to make her daughter half Chinese and half American, when such a combination is impossible. She regrets not having taught Waverly enough about her Chinese heritage.

Because no matter that Waverly was Chinese...... all of her mannerisms, looks and movements were American. She was telling her that everyone would know she wasn't a native of China..... she was American Made.
