What were McCormick's choices and do you agree with his decision to stay?

Does this question relate to McCormick's visit to the Zande village? If so, while in the village, he was accidentally jabbed in the thumb with an infected needle. His choices were to leave with leave with the pilots who'd brought him and possibly get treatment at a hospital or stay with his patients. He chose to stay.... I think he did the right thing.
