The Hobbit Chapter 8

The closing lines of chapter 7 tell us, “Now began the most dangerous part of the journey” as they “plunged into the forest.” List and briefly discuss the dangers they meet and confront in Mirkwood Forest. Why is this called the most dangerous art of the journey?

Basically, it's the most dangerous part of the journey because Gandalf isn't there to save them. It's dark, they're hungry, they go near the river their supposed to stay away from, the move off the path and a tempted to run because the see the elves feasting...... they're not very good about following directions, and they don't have their leader........ then come the giant spiders and the trolls.
