In chapter 7 Hailey says to Starr “pretend the ball is some fried chicken.". How is that quote signifancat and how does it show racsim ?.

The comment itself is demeaning. It is a racial comment that infers all blacks love fried chicken..... thus, if Starr pretends the basketball is fried chicken, she will pay close attention to its whereabouts.
