Gatsby didn't get the inheritence because Cody's mistrss intervened. Similarily, Gatsby will not get Daisy's love simply because he is very rich. Tom intervenes in Gatsby's plans. Gatsby cannot inherit Daisy's love. Fate will not work in Gatsby's favor.
