The last three paragraphs of the novel speak to the American dream..... not Gatsby's dream, but rather, the green light we all set our sights on in one way or another. The green light that might symbolize a home and a yard, a happy family, great wealth, a career...... even fame and fortune. Everyone has a green light, but for each of us it means something different.
