Aspects of Laura with Jim!

What appearances must she avoid with Jim during their talk?

There a line which he tells her that her brother told him that she is shy, isnt that right? and Laura answers him with: " I... dont know"

Why does she say this? to avoid that she is shy? that would be something that she must avoid, or I'm misunderstood

I think Laura desperately wants Jim. Jim O'Connor helps her come out of her shell, he is sort of her knight in shinning armour. Laura is shy and she knows it but she is desperately trying to engage Jim. Perhaps in her heart she isn't shy. Perhaps all these years of running away to her dolls and the zoo has buried her real self. This is something to consider.
