Why does Jonas stop taking his stirrings-repression pills?

In learning about love, Jonas somehow knew inside that he was supposed to "feel" emotion. Thus, he stopped taking his pills.

The next morning, for the first time, Jonas did not take his pill. Something within him, something that had grown there
through the memories, told him to throw the pill away.
