Jonas begins to see how isolated and and childlike even his parents are in the community. Jonas loses his sense of innocence once he discovers disturbing traits in the community. You might consider:
- Elderly and "abnormal children" kicked out of community.
-People have no meaningful emotions. The Giver takes them all
- People have little freedom of choice (their jobs are decided for them)
- Birthmothers have their babies taken away from them and given to "suitable couples".
