Why does Reef like his nickname?

Reef likes his nickname because as a fourth grader he was enthralled by a science movie on coral... coral reefs. In turn, Reef took his nickname to mean "living rock," Reef liked thinking of himself as a living rock.... someone who could protect the people he loved.
