I'm not sure about the trial itself, but Diane Morrison was extremely upset about the results of the trial. Morrison sees Reef as having gotten away with almost killing her daughter, who is lying in a coma. She saw his sentence at the group home, in addition to the required volunteer hours far too lax a punishment.
