The initial conflict is Jerry's refusal to sell chocolates at the school chocolate sale. The conflict rises as Jerry refuses to still sell chocolates after the first ten days and The Vigils' subsequent punishment for not obeying them. The conclusion happens after the boxing match against Emile Janza. Jerry realizes the price to be paid for non-conformity and exactly what is (and what is not) worth fighting for.
