Holden likes to portray himself as a keen observer of human nature. The reader can easily see his huge insecurities in his comments. Check these out,

I swear to God, if I were a piano player or an actor or something and all those dopes thought I was terrific, I'd hate it. I wouldn't even want them to clap for me.... I'd play it in the goddam closet."

Holden never wants to," have any goddam stupid useless conversations with anyone."

"My brother D.B.'s a writer and all, and my brother Allie, the one that died, that I told you about, was a wizard. I'm the only really dumb one"

Page numbers vary from copy to copy (there are so many versions!) you can easily find the chapters though.
