Why do you think the author included entries from the dictionary/thesaurus given Liesel by Ilse Hermann?

This reflects Liesel searching for ways to explain the most painful parts of the story. How can Liesel illustrate such cruelty and heartbreak? Where can she find the words? This is where the dictionary/thesarus comes in. So, for example, when Max leaves the home there is "Schweigen" – Silence."
