Santiago dreams that he is in a field with his sheep when a child appears. The child plays with his sheep, which leads Santiago to tell the child to stop. Santiago thinks that sheep don't like strangers, but the child ignores him. Suddenly, the child takes Santiago by the hands transports him to the Egyptian pyramids. Santiago had no awareness of the pyramids, so he believe that dreamin about something he'd never seen or experienced, proved the dream was not of his own making. Still dreaming, the child tells Santiago, "If you come here, you will find a hidden treasure" (13-14)..... and Santiago wakes up.
