What do you find the similarities and differences between Aeneas' leaving Troy and leaving Carthage (Dido)? Why do you think so? Please explain.

In both cases Aeneas is leaving because he has a greater destiny to fulfill. In leaving Troy he takes with him his father Anchises; in leaving Carthage, he leaves behind a future in which he will be somewhat happy living with the woman he loves and ruling a secure and prosperous city. On the other hand, he must fulfill his "fate," so he must go to Rome and complete his logical mission in founding the city of Rome.
