They were punished when Huck stole back the money they'd stolen. Huck snuck into their room to search for the money, but unfortunately, the two con men arrived back earlier than he expected. Huck had to hide, and while hiding over heard the two men planning their exit from town. The Duke want out immediately, but the Dauphin....... greedy as he was, wanted to wait until the next day when they could get away with everything. Huck takes the money (gold) and finds a safe plce to hide it.
