Siddhartha often seems impatient in his quest for spiritual enlightenment. He believes that once he has attained Nirvana, the universal understanding of life, he will have the truth for which he searches. Siddhartha begins his search with Govinda, but unlike Govinda, quickly changes his path when he believes he's found a quicker way. After spending time with the Brahmins, he abandons that path to follow the route of the Samanas. Still unfulfilled, he leaves the Samana for Gotama, and later leaves Gotama to search for Nirvana in the material world. All in all, Siddhartha learns to see outside the box...... something Govinda is not able to do.
