Faulkner’s attitude toward Miss Emily?

I'm struggling with my American Literature class. What is inferred to be Faulkner’s attitude toward Miss Emily?

In my opinion, Faulkner uses the character of Miss Emily to portray the generation gap. Although Miss Emily is seen by the townspeople as a relic of the past, we can't help but see that there was a time she desired to embrace modernity, held back by her father.... a true relic of the past.
