Who is Angela

Angela is the narrator in the novel, San Manuel Bueno, Martyr. She narrates the novel in her fifties..... looking back on her childhood and the important role both religion and Don Manuel played in her life. Angela is described as a religious, obedient, young woman. Don Manuel served as a spiritual guide for her family.

Don Manuel was a parish priest in the town Valverde de Lucerna in Spain. Unfortunately, Manuel's service to the community is hypocritical, as he does not believe in God. Manuel did, however, spend his life serving, guiding, and helping his flock.
