Benvolio is a peacemaker. He is a Montague and Romeo's friend. He attempts to stop the opening fight with the Capulet's in the market. He attempts to reason with both sides and gives an objective view about what fight that has taken plays. He also seems to care about Romeo, informing Romeo's father about what is happening with Romeo.
