ACT 1 SCENE 1 - How respected are its leaders- Montague, Capulet, Prince Escalus?

Montague and Capulet are both highly respected in the city, but they essentially are on opposite sides in that they are carrying on a long-standing feud. Capulet is high in the community as we see when Paris asks for Juliet's hand in marriage; Paris is related to the Prince. As for the Prince, he is the ruler of the city and his word is law. There is no going against him and he has the ability to impose any kind of puishment on anyone if he so chooses.
