I thought that L. Capulet in the film was faithful to her character in the play. She was cold and indifferent to her daughter's feelings. She was in no way nurturing.

L. Capulet is not a good mother. She is cold and does not embrace Juliets opinions. She is not the type to stand up to her husband instead she lets him take power and makes him make the main opinions. L. Capulet is a follower of her husband. The Nurse is more of a mother to Juliet than L. Capulet.
