Pride and Prejudice

  1. In what ways is Elizabeth out of place in her own family? How do they limit what she can do with her “lively mind”? What do Darcy and Pemberly represent to Elizabeth? To what extent do you think family makes a person who he or she is? How does family influence the way others think of that person?

The biggest difference between Elizabeth and the rest of her family would be her commonsense and thoughts for her repuation. Her mother is a silly woman, who desires nothing more than to see her daughters married off..... her father happily ignores her mother as long as it keeps her from bothering him. Jane is a sweet girl, but she's also naive. Lydia is more foolish than her mother, and Kitty is really too young to care. Elizabeth is serious and perceptive. She thinks about appearances and is quite prideful, something she accuses others of without thought of herself.
