Does Poe use symbols in his stories that represent things in his life?

1.A theme/motif/symbol/behavior/object/setting or metaphor that appears in atleast two of Poe’s short stories. (Nothing too obvious)

2.Compare and contrast them and tell how they relate to Edgar Allan Poe.

He does use many symbols in his stories. Is there a particular story you are referring to?

No I'm open to every story. I just need a symbol that occurs in two stories that can relate to Poe.
