1. Both poems deal with themes of disintegration of civilization and man's unceasing search for meaning in a brutal world. Yeats looks for a spiritual, perhaps Hindu, truth in the world. In The second coming, Yeats looks for truth as well by transitioning into a new universe away from the social deterioration of the modern world.
