What did Cassio do in Act 2, Scene 1?

In Othello, Act II, Scene I, Cassio welcomes the ship carrying Iago, Desdemona, and Emilia to Cyprus. Cassio proceeds to compliment the women, especially Desdemona, supplying Iago with even more information he'll use to fire Roderigo's jealousy.
