In order to answer this question, you have to decide which definition of hero you want to use. Does he seem to fight for someone who is disadvantaged? Yes, he absolutely does. Does he have "noble" reasons for his fight? Not always, because sometimes he just wants to create chaos. Is he willing to sacrifice himself for others? Absolutely, when he tries to get what is right for the other inmates even when it can cost him dearly.
