Mr. Brownlow takes Monks to his home and tells him the moment he attempts to leave he will call the police. Brownlow knows Monks well, and we learn that he is actually an old family friend, whose real name is Edward Leeford. If the police have to be called, Brownlow will charge Monks with robbery and fraud.
