Why does George relate the same story to Lennie over again? What does the story represent?

Lennie wants George to repeat the dream of the farm over and over again. Lennies is dream is for the two of them to have their own farm, off by themselves, where they'll also have rabbits. The story represents belonging and the American Dream.
