What connections can you make between the Great Gatsby and Native Son?

The symbols in "The Great Gatsby" and in the "Native Son" novel, have a connection relating that both are comparing societies and cultures. There is Old Money and New Money in both narratives. In "Native Son" there's a comparison between the black and the white society, in regards to the white society having more power and control then the black society. Gatsby does this between black and white.
