Why do you think the boys took the streetcar for a joyride?

In my opinion, the boys simply acted impetuously. Once the driver, as well as the passengers got off the streetcar, Uri realized he had the freedom to do something he'd always wanted to do..... drive the streetcar, and he didn't think twice. An opportunity presented itself, and the boys took it. They had a ball!
