Jessica is Shylock's daughter who longs to be free from the control of her father Shylock. Her rebellious attraction to Lorenzo becomes part of Shylock's undoing. Not only must Shylock contend with the humiliation of loosing his bond but also the loss of his daughter to a Christian, Jessica also pillages Shylock's wealth. Wealth was a big part of Shylock's identity.
