Macbeth doesn't realize that his actions are leading to his downfall because of his own ambition, pride, and the way he interprets the prophecies of the witches. His obsession with the attainment of power leads him to violence, intimidation, and the loss of his honor. Unfortunately, he is so caught up in his own desires that he cannot see his own downfall has become imminent.
