Why, despite the witches’ predictions, does Macbeth have reason to doubt he will succeed Duncan as king?

Macbeth is scared. He thinks that angels will intervene when he is trying to kill the king. Macbeth thinks the angels will blow trumpets and everybody will see his horrible act.
