He is a great soldier. It would seem that he and Banquo repelled the Norwegian attack all by themselves. In addition Macbeth caught up with the "merciless Macdonwald... Till he unseamed him from the nave to th' chops". Then Macbeth kicked ass on the Norwegian reinforcements.
